LDF Ministry, which assumed office in May 2007, initiated momentous events in the history of Legislative Assembly of the State. The fiftieth anniversary of the first Kerala Government led by EMS Namboodiripad was celebrated in a befitting manner. It was felt during the celebrations that, if the reactionary forces had not schemed up and torpedoed that Government, Kerala would have achieved for bigger strides in economic progress and social advancement. The year long Golden Jubilee Celebration of the Legislative Assembly inaugurated by the Governor was remarkable for documentation and compilation etc of Assembly proceedings. The valedictory function of the programme was graced by Her Excellency, the President of India Smt. Pratibha Patel in April 2008. The Kerala formation day celebration held on November 1, 2007 was also a momentous event with the President of India kicking off three far-sighted schemes:Total physical fitness programme for young men and women in schools “Malinyamuktha Keralam” or Total Cleanliness Programme for the State and scholarship programme for Higher Secondary students. |

Sports Commission Report submitted to government |
The Sports Commission chaired by Shri. A. K. Pandya the founder Director General of Sports Authority of India and former Secretary of Central Sports Department submitted its final report on 5th June 2009. The report lays down suggestions and proposals for the comprehensive development of sports field of Kerala. The commission was appointed by the present government of Kerala. The report was handed over to the Sports Minister, Shri. M. Vijay Kumar in a function held at Darbar Hall, Secretariat. Education Minster Shri. M. A. Baby was also present at the occasion.

Law Department, Sprots and ports Sector made solid achievements during the last three years. The Law Reforms Commission during formed by the LDF Government was a path-breaker. Intellectual Property Rights Policy was the first of its kind in the country. 35th National Games is brought to Kerala. Kollam Commercial port was inaugurated. Steps taken for maritime institutes at Manjeswarom and Thiruvananthapuram. Efforts are on to realise Vizhinjam mother port and Kochi Metro Rail Project.
